    I can't figure this out

    Washington announced today they have hired a defensive coach but no head coach yet. The same thing happened in Miami -- hired coaches before a head coach.
    Unless they already have a verbal commitment from a head coach prospect, why is this done? It would seem to me the head coach wants to hire his own assistants.

    I think that what they were saying on "The Afternoon Blitz" yesterday might be pretty close.

    All 3 of the prime candidates would be happy with the coords that have been signed.
    In fact 2 of them (Fassell/Mooch) kindof gave Snyder a thumbs up on the signing of the two already.

    (No Z I don't have a link or a recording of what was said.

    It is so ass-backwards, it's crazy...the only explanation is that the head coach has committed but they can't make it public for some reason. Or maybe it's just another idiotic move by Snyder...we are so fortunate not to have this jerk as our owner.

    Perhaps they wanted to hire a HC from within. In order to do that, they hire them as DC first, then later promote him.

    My logic is all screwed up today.

    PFT is reporting they believe Steve Mariucci will get the head coaching job at Washington.
