Most of those guys have been on the career path of someday, hopefully, becoming an HC.
If given the opportunity, most will grab it.
It seems to me to be more along the lines of having a scapegoat, the HC is the easiest to blame for any shortcomings and it can appease the masses and sales of TX by replacing him when things are apparently going sour.

Very few owners will do what Jerry did this year and "Lock a Guy" up.

Look what it did for the Redskins and thier high paid coordinators.
Best thing to do is play by the "Un-written" rule and let them interview.

If he gets the job you have someone on another staff that likes you and won't treat you like "Fuck Head" did to us in the 2005 draft.

Yeah, except that it seems that the mid-level teams end up suffering the most regarding coaching attrition...most teams don't wait until the playoffs are over to name a HC.
Ticks me off because teams like the Putzies, Cowturds and others get to hang onto their coaches even longer than someone like the Vikes who could use the continuity more.
