How crazy has this new free-agency era become
You want nutty? Kurt Warner actually thanked his former coach with the Giants, Tom Coughlin, for benching him so that teams could better appreciate his skills and contribution to the team. He cited this as a main reason why the Cardinals signed him to compete for a starting quarterback job in 2005.
The backup quarterback shuffle is even entertaining. Jay Fiedler is returning to Long Island! The former Dolphin was able to call his shots and sign on with the Jets, whose training facilities are in Long Island. And Gus Frerotte is replacing him in Miami to supposedly compete for the starting job with the one and only A.J. Feeley. The Dolphins are really picking up the pieces, huh? Feeley could use some veteran guidance, but calling on Frerotte (the man who once banged his own head into a stadium wall after scoring a touchdown)might not be the answer for Miami's new coach, Nick Saban
Early odds out of New York are 2-1 that Burress and Coughlin have a run-in before training camp. The Giants are hoping he catches more touchdowns in Week 1 than the other wide receivers caught for the team all last year (just two in case you were wondering).
