• Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon today.

• Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera in Chicago on Saturday.

• San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy, possibly as early as Sunday.

• San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Wade Phillips on Monday.

• Packers defensive coordinator Jim Bates next Thursday.

He likely has placed a priority on finding a coach who can work well with quarterback Brett Favre if he returns next season and develop first-round draft pick Aaron Rodgers as Favre’s successor. That explains his interest in Childress, Payton and McCarthy.

i wouldnt like it if they got Wade Phillips becasue i think that he was one of the best coaches on the market

All the TV types are like this will be a great tradition to follow and what not.

But, this to me is a temp job. It is a use a coach scenario until they get rejuvenated and are ready to start competing again. You take the job if you get it and hope you get to stay when the going gets better.

I could also see Kirk Ferentz going to the Pack.

I've heard rumors of Ferentz going to the Pack, but I don't see it happening.

Why do I get the feeling that the Packers are in panic mode?
