    Re: The Harrison Hit

With the millions of dollars in fines that Goodell, has levied, especially with the high amounts he fines for illegal hits & fights, it would be nice to see those monies actually go to help the former players who have debilitating injuries that are financially strapped because of it, rather than to line money grubbing Goodell's pockets.

They will lead with their shoulder just like we did in the old days.

I know, unlike some, I have played the game.

Improved helmets must be combined with education, mandatory ejections, much larger fines and much stiffer penalties.

Discipline must be on a ZERO tolerance level and fines must go to ten percent and more of the paycheck pro-rated to that game.

Think of it this way--much harder consequences and much softer helmets.
If your ability to play the game is anything like your ability to count, it's no wonder you haven't played since high school & ended up posting on forums.

Well, I can count just fine, but I lost track of all the helmet to helmet shots I saw yesterday.

I suppose we'll get a tally today or tomorrow when the fines are announced.

Michael Vick is getting hammered and the refs won't call anything.....why?

What's going on? Racial bias? Prejudice because Vick has been in prison?

Maybe not.....although Vick may be the worst case, Favre, Roethlisberger, Cutler, Rogers......it's been open season on QBs this year and that stinks.

The fines that come out on Monday and Tuesday are not big enough to modify the behavior.

My guess is he took multiple hits to the head himself. Would explain a lot.

I had at least two concussions.

I don't see that as a joking matter.

    Actually, it's not.

    But you wouldn't know that.

    Something you might find interesting:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81cdf2d6/article/concussions-reported-in-nfl-up-21-percent-from-last-season?module=HP_headlines

Reported concussions up 21% since 2009.

Hmm.. does that mean since 2009 players have gotten bigger, stronger and faster?

    No, it's not interesting.

Stats on the last 50 years would be interesting.....if accurate stats existed.

It doesn't matter, the thing to take from this is REPORTED concussions are up.

Meaning, there's alot more awareness about them now, and they have precautions in place when you get a concussion. They're being reported now, not ignored.

If they're up this much from last year, I'd imagine they'd be up massively from 50 years ago.

    Doesn't mean they didn't happen.
