Gus Frerotte says Chris Chambers = Randy Moss

    http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-dolnb04aug04,0,4880659.story?coll=sfla-sports-front

Frerotte, who spent the past two seasons with the Vikings working under new offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, compared Chris Chambers' potential in this offense to another standout wide receiver he used to throw to.

"We had an 84 there (Randy Moss), but we've got an 84 here who can do the same stuff," Frerotte said. "He's a special player."

Poor boy has lost his mind.

Anyway, he claims Miami will be flinging the ball deep a lot, like we used to. I think they're screwed.

I thought Gus was smarter than that. Chambers is a good receiver but should not even be in the same sentence as Moss. Please. I think the heat has gotten to poor Gus...He is crazy!

I think that he was talking about the "hurt" version of Randy...or maybe the walking off the field early version...because there is no way that Gus is talking about the Randy that used to "whup dat azz" on Green Bay twice a year!

Re: Gus Frerotte says Chris Chambers = Randy Moss

I gotta say that Chris Chambers is a very good wide receiver. He's able to make some pretty amazing plays that I've seen, and he's done that with quarterbacks like AJ Feeley and other crap starters.

But to compare him to Moss is simply inexcusable. Moss was always capable of dominating a game. We even saw him dominate that Green Bay game even though he was running on one leg. So, props to Chambers, and I hope he eventually gets a good QB, but don't start talking about Moss just yet.

    Thanks PPE for the sig.

Re: Gus Frerotte says Chris Chambers = Randy Moss

Haha, this is hilarious. We go on and on about how Culpepper made Moss just as much as Moss made Culpepper. We tell ourselves that Moss won't be as productive with Collins throwing him the ball instead of Culpepper.

If you say, "Travis Taylor only struggled in Baltimore because he had horrible QBs throwing him the ball." How can you argue that Chambers, who has had great seasons even though he has no-name QBs throwing him the ball, is nowhere near Moss-like?

Maybe Chambers really can be as good as Moss. Maybe he has just never had a QB of Culpepper's caliber. If the Vikings had brought Chambers in as a replacement for Moss there would be no doubt in my mind that Chambers would have Moss-like numbers. Gus isn't crazy, he just sees potential. He sees the chance for a great player to be even greater if put in the right situation.

Gus has obviously been hanging aroung with Ricky and doing some recreational activities - as that can be the only explanation for comments like that.
Chambers is a good receiver, of that I don't doubt, but he's not quite a RM clone IMHO.
Still as long as Gus is happy throwing to him then that's the important thing for Miami.

i gotta say, living down here in florida, ove seen alot of Chambers...Hes has the ability to make alot of big plays th way Moss can, but he in no way influences a game like Moss does....but the guy has tons of potential, maybe put with a good QB he could end up being thet next Moss

Seriously, Chambers is good. But comparing him to Moss? I think not.

It's just like Moss saying Collins is better than Pep. Chambers is a Dolphin, not Moss.
