I think it's clear we got rid of him to keep such notable talent as... Ryan... Cook....

Cook is getting better and we needed a OL more than a safety. I did not want to see him go but oh well. The way Sharper has been playing lately I wish we would have let him go instead.

I think his lack of speed and coverage skills has always been the knock, however, he was a gamer and seemed to make the best of the chances he was given.
Certainly there was no doubt that the guy could hit once in awhile, but I'm sure the coaches evaluated him fairly & deemed him not good enought to fit into our system.

Yes, he did have the big hit a year or two ago, but that's the way some fans here are. They watch one big play a guy has, latch onto him & delare him a beast & starter material. I don't mean to sound rude, but that's what I see here on occassion.

How many were high on Blue before that one hit?

How many were high on Jason Carter before that one TD catch in pre-season?

How many were high on Dovonte Edwards before he intercepted that pass from Favre & took it to the house?

It takes more than one good play to declare a player great or a beast. You need to see consistancy from game to game.

Damn, Cook is playing at a pretty high level for a Collegiate Center turned RT.
Sure he hasn't been exactly great at times, however, what did you expect him to do, step right in and become an instant pro-bowler?

    What are you smoking?

Do you really believe the decision NOT to carry a FIFTH safety was related to carrying a starting RT?

Mike Doss and Tank Williams are the reasons Blue was expendable.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

Yepper, we were pretty deep in safety talent this year, hard to take Blue over Doss or Williams.
I notice this is also a position that gets a lot of focus with this coaching staff, we had a lot of people in training camp playing safety.

I liked him as well, however, I just find it amazing that he was still not picked up this late in the season, especially with all the injuries this year.

Might be a good indicator that he doesn't have all the tools to play at the level needed in the NFL, or at least to make the starting roster someplace.

Possibly....but could also mean we can't spot future tallent as well as Detroit too....The Lions do seem to making some positive strides with there team this season.

This is not spotting talent. The Lions signing Greg Blue is filling a void made by injuries. If this was them spotting talent, they would have signed him right away.
