The Greatest Quarterback Ever

The Greatest Quarterback Ever

There's been a lot of talk this weekend about Brett Favre coming into the Metrodome this weekend and setting some sort of record that's allegedly going to cement him as the best quarterback of all time.
I'm sure you've heard all the same nonsense, unless you've been living under a rock for the past two or three days.......

Re: The Greatest Quarterback Ever

No WAY ! Favre is nowhere near what Joe Montana was, or Elway. Montana has 4 Super Bowl rings (or was it 5 ?). Four, I guess, because Steve Young got the one in 1995.

Favre is way to inconsistent to be the "best ever". Remember that playoff game about 4 years ago ? The Packers go into the Rams' house and Favre throws like 5 INTs, totally destroying the Packers. Great QBs don't try to do it all. They operate as part of a team. Whenever I watch Favre, I think I am watching the "Brett Favre" show, with the "supporting cast" of other players. It is kind of ridiculous.

What has Favre won since 1996/7 ? All he has done is throw interceptions and destroy the chances of his team.

Remember the Eagles game about 3 years ago ? NFC Championship Game. Favre had a receiver wide open with 4th and 6, and overthrew him. Can you imagine Elway or Montana overthrowing that guy ?

Favre is the most overhyped QB of all time.

QBs better than Favre, overall in their careers:

1. Montana (by far, the best ever !!)
2. Elway ("the Drive", plus 2 rings)
3. Marino (never blew his team up like Favre)
4. Peyton Manning (can anyone argue here ?)
5. Tom Brady (3 rings since 2000, even if they did cheat)
6. Dan Fouts (one of the best ever)
7. Archie Manning (great QB on horrific teams)
8. Unitas (duh !!)
9. Ken Anderson (the highest completion % careerwise)
10. Tarkenton (many more TDs in far fewer seasons)
11. Phil Sims (great in the playoffs, unlike Fav-Ray)
12. Warren Moon
13. Jim Hart
14. Jim Kelly (4 Super Bowls)
15. Bradshaw (4 rings)

Payton Manning is going to shatter all his records anyways.

When it's all said and done, I think Payton will be remembered as the greatest QB ever.

1. Montana (by far, the best ever !!) No argument.
2. Elway ("the Drive", plus 2 rings)Ever wonder why he has some many comebacks?
They were behind alot

3. Marino (never blew his team up like Favre)I like him, but not at 3.
No SB's put him down alot lower 8/9 area.

4. Peyton Manning (can anyone argue here ?)Work still in progress.
We will see but top 7 is good for now.

5. Tom Brady (3 rings since 2000, even if they did cheat)Another work in progress. Same with Peyton, in top 7.
6. Dan Fouts (one of the best ever)For some reason I don't really remember seeing him play much.
7. Archie Manning (great QB on horrific teams)Same as Fouts.
Just don't remember to much of him.

8. Unitas (duh !!)Got to see him play on NFL classic a few times.
Should/could be higher.

9. Ken Anderson (the highest completion % careerwise)The snake.
I like to watch him but don't think he is top ten material.
Definately 10-15 area though.

10. Tarkenton (many more TDs in far fewer seasons)I would drop him a few as well.
Sure wish he could have got a SB for us.

11. Phil Sims (great in the playoffs, unlike Fav-Ray)I would drop him.
System QB IMHO.

12. Warren Moon Great Stats.
Should/could be a bit lower.

13. Jim Hart Don't remember much of him.
Cardinals right?

14. Jim Kelly (4 Super Bowls)About right here. Him and Tark should be linked with each other
15. Bradshaw (4 rings)I don't think much of him.
Kindof put him in the class of QB that doesn't loose games.
The team won those SB's and just took Terry along for the ride IMHO.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Re: The Greatest Quarterback Ever

Peyton now should just change his name to "Payton". That would be cool. That way, your typo would no longer be wrong !

Bradshaw needs to be top 10.

Ken Anderson, Jim Hart, Warren Moon, Archie Manning and Phil Simms have no place on this list if it means leaving off the likes of Otto Graham, Troy Aikman, Lenny Dawson, Sammy Baugh and Bobby Layne.
