I can't believe he's serious about this.

I'm not sure it's a great idea, but I don't see anything particularly wrong with it.
Who goes to the Super Bowl anyways?
Mostly rich folks, people that have corporate connections, and a few loyal fans that shell out big cash.
I don't think that crowd would change that much if it were in London.
You're already paying about $5,000 per ticket to go to the game.
What's another $500-1,000 to watch it overseas?
Probably not even that much of a difference in traveling costs if you're going from Boston to London, as compared to Boston to San Diego or New Orleans.
Maybe there would actually be more real fans.
How many people in London would be willing to pay that much for tickets, considering they probably barely watch the games?
For the rest of us, it would be the same over-blown TV production.
Who really cares? When the age of the Vikings came to a close, they must have sensed it. Probably, they gathered together one evening, slapped each other on the back and said, "Hey, good job." - Jack Handey [Deep Thoughts]

Re: Goodell says Super Bowl may someday be held in London
The ticket scramble for the Dolphins V Giants game at Wembley was unbelievable, I reckon they could have sold 150 000 tickets for that game easy. OK the prices were between $90 and $200, nothing like Superbowl prices but the support for the NFL is definitely strong in the UK.
That doesn't mean I'm in favor of bringing the game over here though, apart from the fact the SB kicks off at about 11.15pm British time, it's just wouldn't be right. A regular season game is one thing but the biggest game of all? Don't be ridiculous.
