Re: Goodell: Pay me $1 if work stoppage

Goodell, who makes about $10 million a year including bonuses, said in a memo to his staff Wednesday that chief negotiator Jeff Pash will do the same. Pash makes nearly $5 million a year.
What a sacrifice! It's tough to make ends meet on a mere $10 million a year. How in the world will he survive on a pittance of a salary of $1,000,001 over two years?

Re: Goodell: Pay me $1 if work stoppage

It was recently said that De Smith NFLPA President would lower his salary to .68 in the event a deal got done before the Super Bowl. I am sick of all the posturing, get in a room together and talk it out like adults!

While football has been overtaking all other major sports in popularity it has been due to little to no work stoppages. I do not have a good feeling that the good fortune will continue.

Re: Goodell: Pay me $1 if work stoppage

A long time NFL reporter on the local sports talk show predicts that there won't be an agreement in place until after the OTA's and TC's would normally take place.

If it does take this long, teams with new coaches like the Vikings will be at a big disadvantage in trying to prepare his players for the upcoming season (implementing new schemes and coaching philosophies). Not to mention lack of FA.

I guess the draft still goes forward, but signings won't until this is resolved.

Hopefully this thing gets done sooner, but looks like Leslie is going to have a lot of challenges to face in his first year.

As if he hasn't already had his fair share of challenges. I think the onus will be more on the Front Office (Brzezinski(sp?), Spielman, etc., than on Leslie himself, though.
