    Good-Bye Emmit

Man, I was watching the PC and he was trying to be so business like and he had this huge list of about 200 names he was running through to thank, and he just lost it. Then he said I didn't think that I would do this(cry) and then after a minute, he got back to business.

Emmitt was awesome, but I think he was overrated a little, especially in comparison to Barry Sanders who was better than him. He is still top 5-6 backs of all time, and hey he is from UF!

Now that hes done with football, maybe he can move on and join that Fowler group to buy the Vikes!

    Good-Bye Emmit

Emmitt was one of the few likeable players on the Dallas Cowboys.

He was definitely a very likeable player, but I always loved watching the Vikings stop him every Thanksgiving, and seeing Robert Smith run all over the Cowboys. Emmitt deserves his props and will always be seen as one of the best. Too bad Barry Sanders didn't go after the record.
Things you would NEVER hear a Green Bay Packer fan say:
1."No kids in the back of the pick-up, it s just not safe."
2."I ll take Shakespeare for 1000, Alex."
3."Duct tape won t fix that."
    4."Checkmate."
5."Nope, no more for me. I m driving tonight."

Emmitt wasn't the greatest athlete or the best runner.... but you can hardly be overrated and put up 18K + yards.

    Good-Bye Emmit

what makes Barry Sanders better than Emmitt, those explosive plays where he danced around?? Thats like saying Moss is better than Jerry Rice in his career. Look at the rings Emmitt 3 and Barry 0, and Emmitt was a guy who rarely lost yardage, whereas Barry would have 4 or 5 carries that went for negative yardage! :?:

He was a great back but he was also very fortunate to have the offensive line of that magnitude for all those years. He did right by thanking them at his PC yesterday. That line would open up holes that 2 Mack trucks could drive through.

And yes Barry was a different type of runner.

IF Barry would have continued to play, they would have been one and two on the all time rushing list, I don't know in what order but they both would have been there.

Heck if Barry was still playing, Emmitt might not have retired at 18K+ yds.

Just an interesting side note, about 2 years ago, some guy from the Texas Sports Hall of Fame was on the local talk radio show. He was just ranting on and on about how Emmitt stood them up and wouldn't respond to the invite to be inducted into the TSHF. He made Emmitt look like an a-hole.

I don't remember the specifics but the guy was not happy. I think that Emmitt's reason for not going was his kid had a soccer game. But the guy took it as if Emmitt was to good for the TSHF. I am sure it is a great honor but Emmitt obviously didn't think so.

To me, Emmitt seems like a nice guy.
