Link to the article: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...s&confirm=trueIn the history of the NFL, three teams have had two running backs rush for 1,000 yards in the same season.
Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris did it for the undefeated Miami Dolphins in 1972. Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier each hit the K-mark for the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers in 1976, and Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack each ran for 1,000 yards for Cleveland in 1985.
The New York Giants are on the verge of joining the club heading into the regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings with Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward
...
The Giants shure has an excellent running game. Here are some 2008 stats from NFL.com:
CARRIES
YARDS
AVERAGE
TOUCHDOWNS
Brandon Jacobs
219
1,089
5.0
15
Derrick Ward
167
948
5.7
2
Ahmad Bradshaw
57
327
5.7

That's a sick yards per carry average they have in New York.
This will be the Minnesota Vikings' defense ultimate challenge to prove that they are the best run stopping team in the league.
According to the article, Derrick Ward is 52 yards short from reaching 1,000 yards this season so the Vikings have a nice chance to prevent the Giants from reaching the milestone.
To bad we are one Williams short on the D-line, but I still think we can do it.

I'd love to hold ward to 51 yards, 1 short of 1000, just to be cruel

I agree with that thinking.
I can give a rats ass how many players for the Giants reach 1000 yards in rushing.
As long as the Vikings reach the double digit win mark of 10 that is all I care about.
I would like to see Peterson go a game without fumbling and TJ go a game without turnovers.
When the Vikings take care of the ball they win.
That is what really matters.

Well with Jacobs not playing there is somewhat of a chance this could happen. As ong as we win the game I am fine if it happens. I have always liked Ward as a RB. Would like to se him get it. Besides even if he gets just 60 yards that is still not that bad.

Plus, even if he gets just 60 yards, the Vikings set a record of leading the league in top rushing defense 3 years in a row!
