Ziggy is not the only one. I am not from Minnesota and have only been there once ... but I still think it would kill me to see the Vikings move because they cannot get a stadlum deal done. They need to get it done ... and need to do it soon.

The last time I was there it was flat farm land, with few trees.

You're thinking of Grand Forks. ;D

Actually, Fargo is pretty flat too - although we are at the southern point of the old glacial lake bed, so there is a bit more terrain.
There is more of a valley feel because the Red and Sheyenne rivers merge here, but you don't really get into the serious valleys until the aptly named Valley City area.
West of Bismark you get into the badlands, which are gorgeous.

We do have good people though.

I hope this is lighting a fire under Ziggy's butt and he does something fast.

Sorry, didn't mean to be angst-sounding earlier, I re-read what I wrote and it did come off that way. My apologies.

I was all about the Vikings getting public funding, and maybe still am to a POINT.
But if other teams can get the owners to pay, why not us?
If Ziggy wants this so bad, why can't him and the other owners open their pockets and pay for most of it?
There have got to be some serious financial gains to be had by owning/operating your own stadium.
    Would the state allow this?
If they aren't going to help fund, then they should allow it.

    Don't apologize to me.
I didn't take it badly, and have tough skin even if I did.

Anyway, I don't think Zygi is the one who needs the fire.
    The state legislature does.
I think Zygi and some kind of financial partner need to make a larger contribution than just $250 million, but some state money will still be needed.
I am still hoping that the NFL reapproves its stadium financing plan.
$400 million from the Vikings, $300 million from the NFL, $200 million from some financial backer, and $300 million from the state/mero/city would sound passable to me...

1.3 billion is a lot of money for a team to come up with.
They could do it in NJ because two teams were contributing.
I am sure the state would have no problem granting tax breaks and even a TIF zone if Zygi and some financial partner wanted to go in on the stadium by themselves.
But that is easier said than done...

This deal has been in the works for FOUR years.
And these are two of the most valuable NFL teams getting together to make a deal.
Notice how each team only needs to contribute half?

Zygi is doing all he can right now, given the bad economic climate for loans and the recent local tragedies.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!

1.3 billion...wow , nice looking stadium (couldn't get a roof with that kind of money?). Hope the state and city don't go back to the Vikings and say see you don't need help

wonder what (who) they will find under old Meadowlands
