Gaines Adams to the Bears
Adam Schefter:
I don't know if mortaging the future by giving up yet another early pick is a good idea, but the Bears are becoming a force to be reckoned with. Gaines Adams has been underachieving in Tampa.Tampa Bay traded DE Gaines Adams to the Chicago Bears for a 2010 draft pick thought to be a second-round pick.
As for the Bucs... They are using some weird strategy. They go out and let their old QB go, then go and make a trade for one of the best TEs in the league and then go and trade away a young guy who was a first round pick in 2007 for a second rounder. It's like they're rebuilding, but not totally commited to it.
Maybe they just want to go 0-16 really bad. I mean, the Lions did make them look pretty bad by one-upping them on their 0-14 season."You can look pretty smart if you have a knack for planning ahead. That's Ted. The Packers are in good hands." - Ron Wolf

Adams has been a bust so far. I hope it continues but I feel that Smith may get more out of him. The Bears pick in the 3rd round.

Re: Gaines Adams to the Bears
while the firesale in Tampa is on... the TOA should call and inquire about the availability of Ternard Jackson... GOD knows our safeties could use an upgrade.... :-

Re: Gaines Adams to the Bears
Not too surprised here. Morris clearly called out Adams in the preseason and is tired of waiting on him.
This does not bother me too much. Adams got his money and is too slow and too lazy for the NFL.

Well, this also helps shoot down the possibility of T.O. going there...

they passed on adrian to pick him, scary thing is if AD was off the board, we would have reached for another DE bust and Jerad Allen would still be in KC most likely...Gaines Adams is a bust.

Re: Gaines Adams to the Bears
I love this move...for us.
Coming into 07 i thought Adams was the most overrated prospect in the entire draft.
I really did not see how he was going in top 10 let alone #4.
Now the bears have no 1st or 2nd round picks in the next 2 drafts which will take a huge toll on their future.
I your team is going to make moves like this and mortgage the future, you better be sure you can win now.
Personally, in a division with us and the pack, idk if that is the wisest decision, especially when you are behind an undefeated team.

That's true. If they can take some good guys later in the draft, they're set for a bright future. Problem is, their defense is aging. It's like they're desperately trying to skip the rebuilding progress by bringing in guys with trades while their aging defense is still somewhat in place. I doubt it'll work."Rockmolder" wrote:

Adams hasn't been that bad so far, though. He'll be coached by Marinelli now, as well, so that's another positive for him and the team. They must've seen something they liked.
As for the Bucs... I don't know what they're trying to do. When you trade away your 1st round picks for 2nd rounders after just two years, you're obviously doing something wrong."You can look pretty smart if you have a knack for planning ahead. That's Ted.
