'Freedom of speech' not guaranteed in NFL
Pretty good article on the unbelievable ammounts of fines coming out of the NFL.
Jared Allen seems pretty fired up, and rightfully so.
I stated in another thread this morning that Roger Goodell is destroying the NFL... and this is what I mean. These fines completely spit in the face of everything Gene Upshaw accomplished for the players in the NFL.
If you break down some of these guys' weekly game checks, then factor in the 30+% tax rate... these players are being robbed... not only of money, but their basic rights of freedom of speech.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Should NFL players be allowed to criticize their employers and co-workers in a public forum?
The NFL has placed a steep price on negatively critiquing the work of officials and even club management this season, and players are starting to notice. Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen provided a voice to their concerns Monday, saying that recent fines of $20,000 and up are "getting out of hand."Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

Re: 'Freedom of speech' not guaranteed in NFL
Freedom of speech applies to people speaking out against government entities, not about privately held corporations restricting negative public comments about the management.
But regardless, I agree 100% with Jared Allen in this case.
The fines are getting silly.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?

Re: 'Freedom of speech' not guaranteed in NFL
I can still say what ever I want about the NFL, right?
The NFL sucks.
The NFL is in clear violation of anti-trust laws.
The NFL rips off its fans by demanding more money for their greedy owners and players.
Publicly funded stadiums are nothing but tax breaks for the super wealthy.
Most of the NFL is using steroids.
Officials are frequently paid off, by the commissioner.
No Fun League
The NFL should be liable for every player that dies early because of the game, probably thousands of deaths.
$75 for a jersey is insane
$300 for a jersey is even more insane.
Every NFL QB is a pansy.
Roger Goodell gives Favre head.

If the players are paid by the teams that makes the teams there bosses.
So why is it so bad to speak against the NFL they don't pay them do they?
