Sure during the Brett Favre era they've been good, but look from 1970 to 1992.... only 3 winning seasons.

If the rankings considered from 1990 to now, Packers would be in the top 3 IMO.
I agree... but why pick the 1970 merger date and not include the Superbowl era which most like to use as the "line" in the sand for modern era football?

    Why?

Cause it won't favor the outcome they want.. IMO.

Just another "Titletown" or "America's Team" ranking to generate interest and controversy to keep rating up.. print it and run with whatever basis you want to peak interest..

Yeah, everyone wants to hear about the 'championships' the Packers had when they played the WWII vets in the backyard of the local VFW.

Nah... I don't dredge up such history.

The Superbowl era stated the NFL vs AFL title game.. so it seems natural to utilize that as the point to look at the history of the current NFL franchises.

But on a different note.. why use such a different accord for Football when baseball had the same type of Micky Mouse operations run in and out of the league way back in the day?

But it really doesn't matter I guess.. it is just another silly poll that I let creep under my skin.

Why not just focus on the Free agent era while we are at it and revenue sharing.. since that is really when parity was introduced in the league.

No matter how the article is written there will be people whining about it.
I have no problems with it because they lay out up front how they put it together.
Just like any power ranking, it is bullshit.
However, this carries more weight than the bullshit polls that come out every week claiming the rankings.
It is at least based on history.

Quite the gift you have been blessed with.. I especially enjoy it when someone can't take the heat or get the humor in it and returns a smoker on the volley.

What a joke of a ranking that is.. the Packers not in the top 10, yet we have been one of the most consistent teams for almost 2 decades running.. are as stable a franchise as there is, we have taken some lumps in the playoffs the last couple years but come on. The Niners are further up the scale.. utter joke.
what about those years between Bart Starr and Brett Favre??

have to take those into account too

I haven't looked at the list, but if I were to make a guess, as much as I hate to say it, I would probably say either the Cowboys, 49ers or Steelers

*** edit, after having read the article, seem's i'm bang on..
