Five Ways To Improve The NFL
Improve the NFL? Cut rookie pay, add a game ...
Every year, on the Friday before the Super Bowl, the commissioner comments on the state of the NFL. It's an appropriate time for league observers to create their own checklist as to where the league stands, and where it might be headed.
It's not an occasion for celebration or congratulation. Football is the dominant pro sport in the United States and is in the early stages of a long-term plan to challenge soccer on the world stage. Everyone involved in the NFL is getting richer -- the owners, the coaches, the players, everyone.
To maintain and expand its success, the National Football League -- like any organization that aspires to greatness -- must continuously look to improve. Here are five things the NFL must do to make that happen:

Re: Five Ways To Improve The NFL
To expand upon those five....
6. Make illeagal contact a five-yard penalty, not a five yard penalty and automatic first down. Then make darn sure your refs know the difference between illeagal contact and pass interference.
7. Take away the force out. It's too subjective, is seemingly never called right, and then it's not reviewable. Make a rule that defenders can't "carry" a receiver out of bounds before his feet hit (can't impede his progress toward the ground?), but if he just hits a receiver, and he goes out of bounds before he gets his feet down, well, more power to the CB.

Re: Five Ways To Improve The NFL
Good read....but I have a problem....I dont like change :(
I like the NFL as it stands....seems perfect.
That being said though, I know changes are coming, and I am sure I will still love the NFL, but I hate change.

Agree and maybe.
I'd also like them to have serious debate on:
8.
Removing the FG as an option in overtime.
Perhaps also removing the coin-toss.
9.
Modernizing the method for measuring a first down.
