SANTA FE -- Governor Richardson wants to attract an National Football League franchise to New Mexico.

The governor says he'll make a one-day trip to Mexico today to discuss with government and business officials the possibility of a bi-national pro football team.

He acknowledges that New Mexico isn't big enough to support its own NFL franchise.

But he says he's looking ahead five years. He says a regional partnership with Mexico could make it attractive for the NFL to expand or relocate to the fast-growing area that includes New Mexico, Texas and Mexico.

The governor also says the state will contract with a California consultant -- the Barrett Sports Group -- to do a study and recommend what would make New Mexico competitive in attracting an NFL team.

Good luck! LA can not get a team and New Mexico wants one, I think LA has 5 times as many people as the whole state of New Mexico!

To Governer of New Mexico, stop wasting your tax payers money and do your job, and stop running around and having photo ops and pretending that you are doing something! Pinhead!
