Re: A few QBs that suck.

through 10 games(8 starts) tjack has 4td's and 9ints. At this pace he should be the next terry bradshaw!!!

Seriously though I think every situation is different, I think we are still probably 2 years away from knowing if tjack will be a good nfl quarterback or not.
The thing that I find frightening is that tjack doesn't seem to make many big plays. I can understand if he doesn't read the defense properly or check down quickly enough, but when his primary target is open he often misses them.

I think he is our qb of the future and is actually learning quite well. Still I don't think the vikings should put all of there eggs in one basket. Next year they should bring in a veteran and draft a middle round rookie so that if tjack doesn't develop they already have somebody ready to take over.

I usually agree with your comments but I question this one my friend.

I really watch the game with an eye for what the OL/DL do and try to see what the WR do as well, however, except for a few plays were the camera crew uses it as a replay, we seldom see what all the router runners are doing.

With that said, I kindof lump the fact that he holds the ball and doesn't throw it into the pool of a coverage sack/good coverage down field.
I do see our guys getting bumped/pressed at the line alot which makes them late or pushed into another router but I just don't see that part of the game from my vantage point.

Granted I will give you a few were maybe a seasoned vet would make a throw, but a rookie?

What are you seeing that I'm not my friend?

One that sticks out is the first down play against the cowboys where he went to t williamson deep down the sideline and threw the ball out of bounds. Another would be when he way over threw the wide open richardson. His picks seem to be mostly bad throws that get tipped by the defense or the reciever, I don't see him just not seeing a defender.
I agree that many of his sacks have come from good coverage downfield, I just have not seen alot of real accurate throws.

    I'm tracking now.
I do agree with you that he has missed some guys, however, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something that would/was showing our WR's getting open willy nilly and he was missing them.

I kindof like that NFC/AFC Playbook show on the NFLN.
    Gives good breakdown of plays.

Re: A few QBs that suck.

This post was absolutely right, we should have gone out and got a real QB with NFL Exp to play for a number of years so we can win now while the QB of the future learns from him and doesn't have to make me angry by losing games chalked up to "development", how many rebuilding phases do I have to go through before we get it done and go to a super bowl.
I'll tell you what, I don't see us going within the next 3 years with Tjack trying to "learn the ropes".
So instead of trying to tell me why Tjack should just put Elway on his back, why didn't we try to come up with a plan that would allow us to win AND develop a QB of the future.

Because if we were starting a veteran now over T-Jack, you would just be delaying the development process. A lot of things he is learning now, need to be learned on the field. You're not going to gain a whole lot more experience "riding the pine".

If we had a QB say Garcia starting for us in 2007 & 2008, T-Jack would still have to gain the on field experience. So in 2009, when they did start him, you'd be seeing a lot of the same things you are seeing today.

One of the problems is this. It is not just T-Jack learning on the field this year. Just about 100% of the team is learning at the same time on the field this year & last. New playbook, new schemes, new personel & all new coaches contribute to it.

Another problem is that great veteran presence to draw from.
As it stands, T-Jack is getting his mentoring from the likes of Holcombe & Bollinger. Not exactly what I call qualified teachers to be teaching a young QB.

What I felt should be happening, when I wanted them to get a veteran QB prior to the 2006 season is that a veteran QB could come in for a year or two & be used while the rest of the team learned the new playbook, the new schemes. etc & were playing well as as a team. Once the team was playing well together & could execute the playbook & schemes, then you could insert a young QB such as T-Jack.

To have everyone on your offense all learning at once including the QB is a recipe for disaster & what were seeing today. Unfortunately, the one that will suffer the most from it mentally will be T-Jack.
