When quarterback Brett Favre turns in his retirement papers, the Green Bay Packers will strike $11.4 million from payroll and quite possibly lead the National Football League in available salary cap room...

He could be crying "Wolf", and I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in September. He's dragging his feet and could decide he still wants to play. Much to our dismay he could be back. >

As long as the Vikings are in competition with the Packers for potential FAs (Gus Frerotte, for example), I'd rather they have dead money on their cap than space with which to work.
