Falcons, Ryan reach terms on six-year, $72 million contract

Associated Press
ATLANTA -- Matt Ryan signed a $72 million, six-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, ending concerns that prolonged negotiations could threaten his chance to become the starting quarterback as a rookie.
Ryan, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Boston College, is guaranteed $34.75 million. His guaranteed money is $4.75 million more than that given to Jake Long, the No. 1 overall choice who also is represented by agent Tom Condon.

I'm wondering how Ryan's deal will affect #3 QB taken in the draft, Brohm.
I hope the Pack use a lot of $$$ on Brohm and Flynn.
Then again if the CBA crap isn't worked out, there won't be a salary cap to worry about.

way too much money for a kid who has never played one snap in the nfl. he makes more than manning and the contract is the third highest in guaranteed in the history of the league.
in the new cba, they need a cap on rookie contracts, or they will get even more out of controlWe're bringing purple back.

That is way too much for a rookie.
They need to figure something else out soon before it gets even more out of hand.Rock out with your cock out!!!

another reason why football needs to follow the nba and nhl in setting a rookie pay-scale

Re: Falcons, Ryan reach terms on six-year, $72 million contract
in a way its good for them, but in a way its bad, i will start with that bad
BAD: you are paying a player who hasnt played a singled snap in the NFL 35 MIL guarenteed, which is dumb, cmon NFL get a rookie cap
GOOD: This will end all the " Will Mike Vick be the Falcons QB when he gets outta jail" questions. The Mike Vick era is over, and it is now the Matt Ryan era.

Pissing on the Pack since 08'

If you go by Average Salary (how much he'll earn per year over the coarse of his contract)
He's ranked 3rd in the league behind Big Ben and Peyton Manning.
Ranking higher than Tom Brady, Tony Romo, etc.
