Patriots | Samuel will not report to team's offseason program

Albert Breer, of the MetroWest Daily News, reports New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel will not report to the team's offseason program without a new deal in place, according to his agent, Alonzo Shavers. Although franchise-tagged free agents are allowed to participate, most players do not in order to protect their financial interests. Samuel is scheduled to earn $7.79 million in 2007 as the team's franchise player.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Denver Broncos will meet with free agent DT Ian Scott (Bears) Monday, March 12, according to a league source.

I don't know why I even read this stuff. There has been no mention of the Vikings for like a week now.

Titans | Fowler agrees to four-year

Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports restricted free-agent LB Ryan Fowler (Cowboys) has signed a four-year offer sheet with the Tennessee Titans. The Cowboys have a week to match the deal; if they choose not to, they would not receive any compensation for Fowler.

John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports restricted free-agent LB Ryan Fowler (Cowboys) has not signed a four-year offer sheet with the Philadelphia Eagles as previously reported. While the Eagles have shown legitimate interest in acquiring him, a deal is not yet in place between the two. According to a source, Fowler is expected to sign an offer sheet with an un-named NFL team Monday, March 12.
Patriots | K. Washington signed

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the New England Patriots have signed WR Kelley Washington (Bengals). The contract can be for as short as one year and as long as five. It includes a signing bonus of $300,000 and can be worth $22 million if the team keeps him for the full term of the deal. If the Patriots wish to keep Washington beyond 2007, they'll have to pay him an option payment, believed to be $4 million.

Sometimes the best deals you make are the ones you don't make.
(e.g. Denard Walker, Fred Smoot, and I forgot the name of the WR that Tice signed and had soooooo much trouble with in his rookie year as HC. )
When we stop to think about it, most folks behavior isn't perplexing after all !
