The Manning family fortune is about to grow again.

The Giants and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning are on the verge of completing a blockbuster six-year contract extension, FOXSports.com has learned.

The two sides are still tweaking some details of the deal. But the team is hoping to have the deal done by today, barring any major setbacks, a team source says.

Manning, who was drafted first overall in 2004, is entering the last year of his rookie deal and the new agreement will tack six additional years and $97.5 million onto this season, with $35 million guaranteed.

The deal will make the 28-year-old the highest-paid player in the history of the Giants organization as well as the highest paid quarterback (per year) in NFL history, a figure Giants fans would probably not argue with.

Other than 2007s magical run Eli has been horrible in the playoffs. Eli's first playoff appearance Loss to carolina, 0-23.

Both were home games, both were worse than Tjack's one and only playoff appearance.

as a young player, with a young supporting cast, which if I recall, we've been giving TJ a free pass for that same reason as well.
At least he leads his team to the playoffs consistently.
TJ hasn't done that yet.


All bias and utter dislike towards Manning aside, I'd take Manning over TJ anyday.
Hopefully TJ can prove me wrong this season.

he was a first overall because he's Peytons Brother.
Can't fault him because teams are dumb enough to take him that high.
However, He's shown far more in his time in the league than TJ has.
