Don Shula is a very very old baby

Waaaaa waaaaa, those Patriots should have an asterisk.
Maybe it's my fanatical hate for the 72 Dolphins but he comes off sounding like yet another old dolphin player stuck in the past and wants to keep rubbing it in everybody's face.
The Dolphins had a shorter season, they faced one team with a record over .500, they played in an age with more lopsided teams without free agency, maybe we should put an asterisk on the dolphins?
Don Shula should just shut his mouth and be happy the fact he was successful once, I'm rooting for the pats so I never have to hear about those crybaby Dolphins celebrating their egos anymore.

What is your opinion on Shula's statement.

    I think he was right.
I don't think he was saying screw the Patriots, just stating the fact that they were caught cheating in the same season that they have a shot at going undefeated and it's a shame (for them) because they're probably pretty good without the steroids and video cameras.

EDIT: I didn't think he meant literally put an asterisk in the record book but after reading the direct quote that's what it sounded like, I don't think that'll happen.
I was just thinking that it's somewhat of a tarnish on whatever they end up accomplishing.

Ok thats fine, Shula wants to be a baby about something that has been common practice (as confirmed by Jimmy Johnson), then the Pats will just have to go 19-0 again next year.

72 Dolphins= most overrated team in NFL history.

    Chuch.

    Honestly they shouldn't..

They don't cheat now and still crush teams

It was dumb what they did.. But they still dominate

Look I think the statement is ridiculous ... and think that the whole pop the cork thing is annoying every year ... but trying to diminish the 72' Dolphins accomplishment is a little silly.
In the regular season they faced TWO ABOVE .500 teams (Chiefs and Giants) and THREE .500 Teams (Vikes and Jets twice). They then topped a 10-4 Browns team, 11-3 Steelers team (that went on to win four Super Bowls) and an 11-3 Redskins team in the playoffs (back before the time of regular season and postseason byes). They had the No. 1 scoring AND yardage offense and the No. 1 scoring AND yardage defense. Yet, they are never mentioned in the same breath as a handful of teams in the "best of all time" discussion. They deserve any respect they get. And until someone else does it ... they still have bragging rights.
I know if it was the Vikings who had done it we would still be talking all day about it on here.

I'm not trying to put down the Dolphins team as a great football team, but I was just trying to point out you can make all sorts of these arguments about any team.
I don't see him calling out the Steelers of old for reports of steroids abuse.
Nor the drug use of the Cowboys in the 90's, who knows maybe they were cheating drug tests and shouldn't have been playing some of them and we should put and asterisk on those Super Bowls.
I just think Shula is reaching for attention cause he knows his precious record is in trouble, maybe he should be more concerned with the current dolphins trying to set another perfect season..................

Re: Don Shula is a very very old baby

I've hated the Dolphins ever since 72, specifically because the Vikes beat em, but the winning Vike TD was called back on a mythic penalty. I've seen a lot of those mythic penalties against the Vikes over the years, but this was the first. And it favored Shula, who was the chief honcho on the rules committee. Shula may not have directly cheated, but he had the refs on his side. So, while I certainly don't care about Bullycheck, Shula can stick his asterick.
