Dolphins cut Green and 8 others

Green, Booker among nine cuts by rebuilding Dolphins

Associated Press

Updated: February 11, 2008, 4:12 PM ET

MIAMI -- Quarterback Trent Green was acquired by the Miami Dolphins last year as part of a plan to turn the franchise's fortunes around.

Not surprisingly, Bill Parcells' ideas differ from the previous model.

There's another veteran FA option.

I would not mind seeing him brought into back-up/teach/compete with TJ.

Anybody see differently?

I'm not saying run out and pay anything, but he seems to be reasonably good, Cut Holcomb to make a roster spot.

VikesFan787, Thanks for the awesome sig!

Re: Trent Green released by Dolphins...

I think that Steve McNair would be a cheap but effective option.
He was, like TJack, from a small D-IAA school (both from the SWAC, both from historically black schools and both considered raw come draft time).
I remember when the Oilers first drafted McNair and the commitment that they made not to start him until he was ready...I think that he could share his knowledge with TJack and help mold him into a top-flight QB (McNair was co-MVP of the NFL one year) while still providing a presence off of the bench that could come in and win a game or ten if (God forbid) TJack got hurt.
Heck, he is DEFINITELY a better option than either Bollinger or Holcomb...and would most likely be available without too much competition from other teams.
The Ravens won't keep him since it is most likely that they will draft Matty Ice...or another top QB prospect in the first round.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
