Does Eli Soil the Manning Family Name?

I've always felt a little sorry for Eli Manning. Being Peyton Manning's little brother has to suck on many levels, and maybe if Eli's last name were Jones, people would just let him be an OK quarterback already.

Having said that, this is pretty funny:

Poor Eli. It would be hard for anyone to live up to the family name "Manning".

Man that's funny.....but seriously, I can't see where Eli has failed at all. How many guys get to start at QB in the NFL. He has already accomplished a lot in his young life. He may not be as tallented at his brother but he's had his moments of glory on the field. He's having a ruff 2007...to many INTs under pressure...but that doesn't mean he can't play the game. Obviosuly he does play and live up to a lot of expectations in NY....otherwise Cofflin would bench him and start another QB. All players have highs and lows. Look at Farve for example....he has had a few seaons of stinking up the field....not saying Eli is a Farve in any way...just think as your O-line goes, or injuries go...you can have some bad games and seasons as a QB in this League.

    Cheers!

He is not a terrible QB though.
he is not as good as his brother or his father, but still, he is better than a lot of starting QBs we have today.
I'd be happy to have him on my team if I was a Giants fan, no complaints from me.
Hell, if they are complaining about a 8-4 record i'll switch with them...(records, not teams, I love my vikings)

He's better than his dad - his dad was terrible.

Eli is not quite on Peyton's level - but he does strongly resemble Tommy Kramer.
Kind of an undersized, undertalenteted, overachieving QB that can play like a top tier QB one game and throw 5 picks in another.

Honestly the Mannings aren't worth as much credit as they are giving.

Archie's stats are mediocre at best. I mean 125 td's to 173 ints is hardly great.

Peyton inheritted one of the greatest recievers in NFL history, and has a very good secondary option, not to mention one of the best recieving TE's in the NFL, and yet he still cannot produce in the playoffs. Please don't site last year as an example, regardless of a superbowl MVP which he didn't deserve, he still had a less then mediocre post season where he through more INTs than TD's.

Eli by the standards set down by his father and brother isn't really that bad. His dad QB'ed losing teams in the 80's, Peyton can't produce in the playoffs, Eli just continues the trends of his family, by being over hyped and over rated
