Do you ever take a look back at the results of a previous NFL Draft?

I have a few times, and I find it very interesting. When the draft is approaching, you know the hype surrounding these prospects, but you don't out what they truly become until 4 or 5 years down the road.

I was taking a look at the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft, and it's awful. Most of the guys that were taken were busts, or just a solid NFL player at best. However, the Buccaneers did great in the first round and built their eventual Superbowl winning defense around their two first round draft picks, Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks. How did we (the Vikings) draft Derrick Alexander over Warren Sapp, lmao? We weren't the only team that passed up on him though, part of the reason Sapp slipped to the 12th pick is because he had some "off the field" issues.

Anyway, here are the top 10 picks of the 1995 Draft.

    1. Cincinnati - Ki-Jana Carter, RB Penn State
    2. Jacksonville - Tony Boselli, T Southern California
    3. Houston - Steve McNair, QB Alcorn State
    4. Washington - Michael Westbrook, WR Colorado
    5. Carolina - Kerry Collins, QB Penn State
    6. St. Louis - Kevin Carter, DT Florida
    7. Philadelphia - Mike Mamula, DE Boston College
    8. Seattle - Joey Galloway, WR Ohio State
    9. N.Y. Jets - Kyle Brady, TE Penn State
    10. San Francisco - J.J. Stokes, WR UCLA

Horrible. Most of those guys were busts. Boselli was a really, really good offensive lineman but could never stay healthy. And the only other name on that list worth mentioning is Steve "Air" Mcnair.

This thread isn't about the Buccaneers, though. I was just using that as an example.

Point out anything that you find interesting about any previous NFL Draft.

Kyle Brady must have been 1995's Vernon Davis.

I was trying to remember who the Vikings drafted in 1992 and then it hit me.

I don't have to go back to far.
It would be fun to see if Webby could pull up the chats that were going on when the Vikes passed on Tedd Ginn Jr last year for AD.

There were some interesting comments about that one last year.
    ;D

It's pretty fun just 3-4 years down the line, to start evaluating.

However this is one of the more fun one you have dug up. As for Philadelphia - Mike Mamula, DE Boston College, I read an article about him, he is the definition of an overdrafted workout warrior. I'm sure you heard the stories of how he took the bench with quick reps as the first, got his steps in line for the 40, flexed his shoulders when his reach were measured before the vertical etc. Bottom line is that the Eagles fell for it big time, and traded up for him.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    LMAO.

Well, Kevin Smith was selected with Minnesota's pick.
He just didn't go to Minnesota...

That's right, but is that worse than 1991

I go back, in fact, for some reason, I can't seem to forget the Hail Mary or the 1982 Draft... >.

1995 was a great example of a crappy Top 10.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Boselli was a pro bowler and then kept getting hurt.
Steve McNair is a borderline Hall of Famer.
Kerry Collins has a decent career but hasn't done anything in a while.
Kevin Carter was a solid pick.
he was very good in St. Louis and had some success in Tennessee.
Galloway is a still a good receiver, and very fast, despite his age.

I m like a Ja Rule poster, cause I'm off the wall.
