Disgruntled Lions fans planning stadium walkout
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2706094
Associated Press
Some fans in Detroit are planning to protest the dismal state of the William Clay Ford-owned and Matt Millen-led Detroit Lions in their home finale for the second straight year.
Last season, about 500 people marched, chanting "Fire Mil-len!, before the Lions hosted the Cincinnati Bengals, and many wore orange during the game.
On Sunday against Chicago, another protest has been initiated by disgruntled fans. With 8:57 left in the second quarter, those interested in showing their displeasure with Ford and Millen are asked to walk out of their seats and to later walk out of the stadium.
"They pay 60 or 80 bucks for a ticket, so they can do what they want with it," Detroit tackle Jeff Backus said. "It's their right to do that. We're not putting a good product on the field, so if that's the way they want to react to it, then so be it."
The Lions (2-12) are tied with Oakland for the worst record in the league and are an NFL-worst 23-71 since 2001, when Millen took control of the once-mediocre franchise. If Detroit loses to the Bears and at Dallas next week, its six-season total of losses will trail only Tampa Bay's 74 setbacks
MAn I would think that the Lions higher ups would get it by now that they need to get rid of Millen and try something new. Its teams like the Lions and Bengals that make Vikings fans realize its not that bad after all.

How did they decide on 8:57?
If Millen isn't fired then no one should buy tickets for next year.

I hope that game will be on TV. I will watch it until that happens. Then I will go watch paint dry. That's more fun than watchin the Lions get their a$$e$ handed to them.( Unless it's the Vikings doin' the handed )
I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it!!

I think all five of them did walk out, but nobody noticed. The whole stadium was full of bears fans.

Re: Disgruntled Lions fans planning stadium walkout
Actually they had almost 500 people march out again.
It wasn't as widely covered as last year's Orange Out, but it happened.
It is a interesting tactic, but considering the fact that the place was pretty empty to begin with, seeing 1% of the fans all get up and leave at the same time isn't all that impressive.
Now if they ever got that number up to 10 or 15%, that would send a better message.
As one fan on the Lion's forum put it... they don't need to organize a walk out, they need to organize a walk in.
Fill the stand with people chanting to can Milen.
That would get some attention.Zeus wrote:
When are you going to realize that picking out the 20 bad throws this year and ignoring the 300 good ones does not make your point?
