    DirecTV question

Not really sure where I should put this so I went with general NFL, though I guess it might be more of a non-NFL thing.

I cannot get DirecTV at my current residence without cutting down three 100+-year-old trees when my next door neighbor is not looking. So I am stuck with this question ...

If my parents were to get the NFL package (which they could) and upgrade it ToGo ... would there be anything preventing my from shooting their accounts package to my iPad (even though they live two hours away).

If anyone has tried this or thinks/knows it would work, let me know. I would definitely be willing to pay for the package. I am guessing I would just need my parents (or whomever I conspired with) to give me their account name and password to watch on my iPad.

Would it be that simple though? Or would I then get some weird block? I can't imagine they could block it, because the whole point would be to watch while away.

But I don't want to throw $400 in the gutter either.

EDIT: After doing some research on the Web, this plan would definitely work. Now, I need either my parents or a friend to share their info ... any takers? If you are getting it anyways, I will foot some of the bill

I could just go to the local bar, but I don't like spending entire lengths of time away from my kids like that.

I think your parents reciever would be stuck on the channel your watching, or they could not watch at all while your watching, not sure though.

I read the new HBOGO app wont let you connect your ipad to a big screen to watch it, you can only watch it on the portable device.

It isn't, from the research of done, like that.

I would be planning on watching it from the portable device, so connecting it to the TV would not be a problem. The problem would be if there was some weird block that I don't know about, but logically does not seem possible.

From looking around the Web, I found a lot of people have actually done this. I would just need the online username and password to their account.

My dad may be a porn addict or something and say no because he does not want me to know ... lol.

slingbox is designed for this reason. You can stream anything on your cable/satellite(or your parents) to your portable device(laptop, iphone, ipad).

Business travelers use it when they on business, esp. in a country that doesn't speak their language.

Downside: Slingbox is $179 at best buy, not that there aren't many other places that it's cheaper, albeit not as convenient to pick it up.

Don't forget you both need quality internet, and the quality still probably wont be as good.

    Re: DirecTV question

Well ... they don't need quality internet. But I have quality internet and it works great with MLB and NHL games, so I imagine the NFL games are similar.
