    Derrick Johnson

Looks like some of us may have been wrong about DJ. We'll see tonight.

    Re: Derrick Johnson

I wanted this guy bad, but he wasn't good enough for 7 and he just din't fall to 18. I think he would have helped much more than Eraser. I not complaining about the pick, but damn I would have liked to see DJ in purple.

It's his loss though, not ours.

    Only time will tell!!!!

We can't go around saying would have, could have.

James as high as he went might be the next big thing ----- who knows???

For all you all that said you wanted Johnson, I didn't have any problems with that. It would have been more practical than a WR to fill someone's shoes.

This is part of the fun of sports, seeing new faces succeed, watching the rising stars. We will just have to wait and see how this season unfolds.

I can't wait, this is so exciting!!! Bring on the season.

DJ is gonna be a force in the NFL but we had a hell of a draft and we just couldn't give up 2 picks for him.

    Re: Derrick Johnson

It is a little confusing according to the article. The article says that 26 teams passed on DJ but he was taken 15th overall. Three spots before Erasmus James.

I think that we made a definite commitment to replacing Moss and building the D-line. It would be nice if the LB was something we really really neaded.

They say everything starts up front on D and I think we would have probably passed on DJ at 18 if he still was available. Just a guess.

    Re: Derrick Johnson

I just feel we had a bigger hole at LB than at DE. Before James we had Udeze, Williams, Williams, and Johnstone, who had 10.5 sacks last year I believe. The fact we are putting Johnstone on the bench blows my mind. He should be a full-time starter. Now that I think of it I don't think we needed a DL in this draft at all.

Maybe we should have drafted an OL, or another WR even, haha.

Either way, we didn't really pass on Johnson, we just had a more pressing need at WR. I would guess he was top five on our board when we picked Williamson. Our LB corps also looks solid right now. I like how we are trying EJ at WLB.

    He's faster then Dante Hall???
    Anyone have his 40 time?
I'd like to see some comparison in 40s, 100s w/ some other players, that is just hard to believe, but most impressive if it's true!

    WELCOME BACK!!!!

You must be kinda rusty, snow...the 26 teams thing referred to when Dan Marino was drafted, not DJ...you get a pass though, since you haven't been around for a little while!

Johnstone was a starter for us and didn't do very well. He gets worn out real easy, which is why we decided to use him strictly as a pas rusher, and boy has it benifited him. Imagine our pass rush this year, with him and erasmus at the DE spots and kevin williams and udeze/darrion scott at DT. I liked the pick of james, especially since johnstone is getting older.

As far as DJ goes, he could play great for KC yet still not have been the best pick for us. We just plain didn't need more young unproven LB's, and thats why we didn't even look at him. I am curious how this experiment with EJ starting at WLB is gonna work. Personally I wish Tice would just let DT play through some of his mistakes and growing pains. Tice seems to give up on guys to easily. Tice was praising DT and how great he has done this offseason not to long ago, and now he has EJ moving in to DT's spot, I don't get it?
