Cold, Hard Football Facts for August 6, 2009

Cold, Hard Football Facts defensive stalwart
The failure of Hall of Fame voters to treat defensive players with the same respect accorded offensive players has been well documented by the Cold, Hard Football Facts.
The 2008 Hall of Fame induction, which featured the largest class of defenders in HOF history (four), was certainly a step toward equality, not to mention a step toward further validation of the Cold, Hard Football Facts. The Class of 2009 that will be inducted Saturday includes three defenders, the second largest class in history: Bills sack-master Bruce Smith, the late Chiefs star Derrick Thomas, and all-purpose stud DB Rod Woodson, who spent most of his career with the Steelers.
But there's still a long way to go before equality reigns in Canton. If HOF voters want to get serious about adding defensive players, they'd be wise to start with this octet of overlooked stars. (Players listed alphabetically.)
What a man.
Here's Atwater showing Christian "The Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye who's boss.

Damn.
That's fucking awesome.

How does Jim Marshall not make the list of defenders overlooked ???
Guess he didn't have enough probowls and no rings to make that list.
Well he does get mentioned in Ricky Jackson case for making the hall.Jackson also recovered 28 opponent fumbles in his career, one shy of the record held by Minnesota legend Jim Marshall (another defender who probably belongs in Canton).

Good Lord - isn't it possible to have a discussion on this website where we DON'T have to point out how it affects our favorite franchise?Chris Doleman, Jim Marshall, John Randall.

Re: Defenders who belong in the NFL Hall of Fame (CHFF.com article)
I know a few broncos fans and when ever we get talking about football history, they always bring up his name. I actually bought Atwater's jersey for one of them.
As for the rest of the list, I do not know much about any of the players. I know Dent hit like a ton of bricks, but I am not sure if he is a HOF.
I was going to say What about Deion Sanders but he gets in next year. We're bringing purple back.
