I was suprised by the first post as well.
The stuff I have been seeing/listening to seems to trend to him being the starter for the Lions next year.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP)�The Detroit Lions have restructured the contract of Daunte Culpepper and signed potential free agents Jason Hanson and Stephen Peterman to long-term deals.

The team did not release terms for any of the contracts announced Tuesday.

Culpepper, who came out of retirement midway through last year’s 0-16 season, was due to receive a $2.5 million roster bonus later this month, but team president Tom Lewand said that the deal had been restructured. Culpepper is still on the last year of a two-year contract.

Detroit signed Hanson, their kicker since 1992, to a four-year deal and kept Peterman, a starting guard, for five more seasons.

I'm glad he stayed with the Lions.
I want to see him play in their matchups and get smeared all over the field.

Whether they like it not, Schwartz and the Lions are sitting at the high-stakes table with 11 in their hand and the dealer showing a face card.

If they double down and draft a quarterback like Georgia’s Matt Stafford or USC’s Mark Sanchez, they’ll either strike it rich (Peyton Manning, No. 1 to the Colts in 1998) or go for broke (Alex Smith, No. 1 to the 49ers in 2005).

Now that Millen is gone, the Lions may actually make the right choice.
