Re: Dang it, I wanted him @ #7 last year ...

Yeah IS...I agree...he fits much better in the 3-4 (he was a DE in college at Maryland)...but he was a STUD and I knew that he would be something special. I wanted him early on, but got afraid that he might become a "tweener"...although he reminded me alot of Freeney with the Colts, I figured that he would probably become an LB instead of staying at his college DE position. Looks like the Chargers made a spectacular choice...he will be a stud for years...the next Junior Seau for the Chargers!

i think after the draft i said that he would be the best of the defensive players coming out of the draft, and it looks like i was right.

The problem was we needed to draft a receiver with that 7th round pick or the shit would've hit the fan.

We didn't have Taylor or K-Rob at the time.

Tice and Merriman are from the same school, I thought it was a lock last year.

I think we were waiting for him to possibly fall to our second first round pick, and he almost did, six spots.

I also made a few posts for Merriman at the 7th pick. I definitely wasn't for a WR.

We may have still had a chance at Troy at 18th. If not, then I would have taken a chance on Big Boy Matt Jones - WR/backup-QB.

Matt still has a long ways to go to become a decent WR in the NFL.

Matt will be the ish once he gets it all together...he showed flashes this year of what he will be able to do if he can stay injury free!

I think you are right, his only problem was the route running and he improved as the season went on. Hopefully for the Jags sake he will work hard on that this off season.

Trust me...he will...especially if he wants a fat new contract in a couple of years! Plus the fact that he is talented enough to be a top receiver in the L!!!
