Dallas Cowboys cheerleader causes controversy by sporting blackface!
Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Whitney Isleib causes controversy by sporting blackface for Halloween.
First all this girl is fine and I don't care what is on her face.
Second it's Halloween, and she was just having fun.

Questionable. She was just having fun but not everyone views the use of negative racial stereotypes for a Halloween costume as fun.
Probably dumb as a box of rocks if she thought she could get away with that."There is good and there is evil. And evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I will not compromise."

And wow at comparing someone wearing black costumes to zombie costumes."There is good and there is evil. And evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I will not compromise."

People use that card way to damn often.
Do you hear the outrage about the piss-poor stereotype the movie 'Fargo' gives us Minnesotans and/or those of us with a Scandinavian background?
No?
Hmmm...
My comparison still stands as valid, no matter how badly you want to slant it as a racist remark.Vegans are eating the rainforests. =(

Re: Dallas Cowboys cheerleader causes controversy by sporting blackface!
I'f i remember this correctly, she was trying to go as Lil' Wayne not just as a black person. I was speaking to the girl friend about this and told her it didn't offend me. I don't think she meant this as a negative caricature of black America so it doesn't offend me. I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that there are a lot of people that are still alive that remember the last days of blackface.
When it comes to being offended, I know it right away. This doesn't stand out to me. However, no one has the right to tell another race what should and shouldn't piss them off. I didn't understand the upheaval against the song Arab Money but Busta Rhymes as
I felt it was more of a compliment to the Middle Eastern community. Yet, when people were upset by it, I listened. It definitely not the smartest career move but.

How can you say that? Do you know the history of Black Face in America? World Wide? I bet you don't.its fricken halloween, she went as lil wayne... not a big deal at all
There are people that feel that White people should never don black paint in an attempt to mimic a black person. Although, i didn't here much about Robert Downey Junior in Tropic Thunder. I still think people should try to think about not only how it makes you feel but how it might make someone else feel.

I hate that analogy every time someone makes it. The slavery trade of Africans pioneered so many ways to degrade a human being that it can't be changed completely to this day. I do not remember hearing any kind of similar situation with Minnesotans in my history classes. The distinction to be made is that Fargo is not hateful. This particular situation with this cheerleader is also not hateful, I believe. So this is probably not the right thread to discuss racism in America."happy" wrote:
