To say Culpepper couldn't read a defense is just silly, you don't put up those kind of numbers with out knowing what the defense is doing, even with Moss.
without moss the guy couldnt read a defense better than a 5th grader.
    week 1 vs tampa 0tds , 2 ints. qb rating 49.2
week 2 vs cincy 0tds, 5 ints, qb rating
    36.4
    week 3 vs. no 3td, 0 ints, 140 rating
week 4 vs atl 1td, 2 ints, qb rating 74.4
    week 5 bye
    week 6 vs chi 0td, 2ints, qb rating 50.4
    week 7 2tds vs gb

those are horrible stats. tarvaris cant even put up those stats even if he tried.
    What season is that?
2005. Last season as a minnesota viking and the season where moss got traded to oakland in the offseason

The NFL has become more about power, money and control than passion, competition and the love of the game.
It has always been like that.
The players have only slowly been getting scraps from the table.
The only thing new about that statement is DC just realized it.

The employers will always have the upper hand.
You put up the money, you reap the rewards.

It was also the final season of MeatHead.
We had an owner and a coach that were taking this team down the whole time Tice was head coach.

Now use this to give DC some slack.
There are more variables than just the numbers you listed up there.

DC did have some problems with the fumbles and some holding on to the ball too long creating those sacks and fumbles.
But try to put the whole puzzle together and then say it was his fault.
DC went through a faze where he was trying to do too much.
Linehan got him to think and throw it away when a play didn't come through.
When 2005 came around the good coaches were gone, the ones that knew DC's tendencies, he once again let his competitive spirit try too hard to make plays.
Yes, Randy being gone had something to do with it.
DC realized that he was the only star left on that team.
He needed to be coached and didn't get it.
    JMO.

[/quote]Culpepper was a good QB, but not elite.

Amen to that. Those fumbles at the goal line ripped my heart out.
I've been a Viking fan since I was just out of diapers, hopefully we get Super Bowl win before I go back in 'em.

your right coaching might have had something to do with it. but for a qb to throw 0tds and 7ints in 2 games, i think it has to do with either you dont know whats going on or you just dont know how to read a defense. everyone has bad games. peyton has bad games. but they bounce back and come back to the stellar form they were first recognized with. that is something DC never did. Dont get me wrong DC did have talent cuz if he didnt then he couldnt of made it to the NFL. But to be considered a good QB i dont think so. he proved in every place he went that without a pro bowl supporting cast he cant do anything. He is at best an average qb and thats pushing it.
