Re: A crazy thought I had about Culpepper

SuckPepper will gain some confidence with Linehan back at OC for him.
I don't know if Liney gave him recorded 'blow sunshine up his ass' messages to fall asleep to that year he played so well.
However Pep seemed to flourish under him.

I think it would be smart to start the season with DC under center.
At least that way you can go to the rook if the Lions suck early on.
Stafford can still get a lot of first team reps as the 'competition' for the starting position goes on in camp because Pep should already know Linehan's system.
I think that would take pressure off Stafford for when he does finally come in to play.

kind of off topic... but about comeback player of the year. Culpepper has a small chance but I believe comeback player of the year front-runner already will be Tom Brady. He was hurt all last season so he has to come back from that, and I believe he'd be the front-runner for it in my opinion.

thank you Josdin00 for the amazing sig!

    and yes... that just happened!

Add Northcutt to the WR list too.
He's not great but he's steady and a pretty good No.3 or 4.
The WR list looks pretty good, and all reports on Pettigrew are prettty high too.
On the other hand, the RB is still pretty unknown, and the OL questionable.
Add in to that how the rest of the NFC North is building to stop the run, and these guys are likely to come out swinging deep.
Its a gamble, but its probably their best bet.

CPepp has lost a step, but him and Linehan did like to go deep often when they had the right guys out there to go get the ball.
To some extent, Linehan had some bad luck with all the injuries, especially on OL and offense in general the past few years in STL...can't blame that whole mess on him.
There might be some fantasy sleepers hiding here.

No doubt, and everybody loves Tom Brady.

I'm not sure Brady Qualifies as a come-back player. He did miss a season but he never played poorly. It is also extremely unlikely that he has even close to as good of a season as 2007.

    no way brady wins.
If you play lights out one season, get hurt for a season then play great the following season, no way thats a comeback player of the year.
Comeback would be like Pennington, started out pretty good, but seemed to always get nicked up, never really played as well as he could until one season where he played well again.
Drew Brees, who started out with promise, was very questionable for a few years then had a great season.
Thats a comeback player, not an all-pro QB who had a torn Knee.

Personally, I'm hoping Udeze gets the comeback player award.

Re: A crazy thought I had about Culpepper

Part of being the comeback player, the team has to excel. Are the Kitttens going to shine as well?

DC has skill and he could do some damage with the right people around him.
They can't rely on just a group of WRs. The will need some great play out of the RBs also to take some of that pressure off.

I still have to defend DC on his injury season.
    It wasn't all his fault.
He had guys dropping passes that should have been caught.
He put the team on his shoulder (not in his small hands) tried to run, it was a huge Gamble, yadda yadda yadda, he is no longer with the Vikings and everyone wants to blame DC for Tice's inadequacies.
OK, if you can't blame DC, I can't entirely blame Tice, fair enough.

Pep lost a step with his knee.

We are lucky the Lions have him.

as I've said before, I don't see Udeze getting enough playing time to warrant any type of award.

I agree I don't see Udeze doing much this year.. More of getting his legs under him again

If he gets 20 tackles and 3 sacks I would be thrilled
