    Cowher Next Washington Coach?

PFT is reporting that there's a lot of speculation in Washington that Bill Cowher will be the new head coach there. Cowher is looking for a job that will not only give him a head coaching job but also head of football operations. That is doable in Washington with Gibb's leaving.

ESPN's talking heads were strongly leaning toward Gregg Williams. I'm sure they know......

    ;D

I wonder if he wants that team in the situation it is in. There are aging players in many position areas, they are always in cap hell, and they like to give away draft picks.

I have thought about Cowher all along if he is to actually return. But it seems like Williams might have the insight track.

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

    Re: Cowher Next Washington Coach?

As I've stated in the Gibbs thread, his head was rumored to be chopped down here almost every other day for the last 2 years.

The number one name that has come up in discussions on our local sports radio show (ESPN 1310) has been Cowher.

Seems that the owner has some fascination with him, regardless of the quality of his Coordinators.
He feels those were Gibbs guys and he wants to bring in "His Guy".

As Cogs said, Williams might have the insided track, but only if Cowher says no.
This will be fun to watch unfold.

Money talks my friends and that is the only thing that will bring the man back out early I think.

Just to throw a curveball, how about Cowher to the Ravens?

I haven't read a single word about Cowher interviewing with any of the teams that have vacancies.

Now - as to the Ravens - no chance.
Ozzie Newsome is entrenched as the GM and, supposedly, Cowher wants total control of the football operation IF he were to come back.

I don't think we'll see Cowher on the sidelines next season.
He's got a sweet gig now and his daughter will be a senior this fall (I believe).

I still think Washington could happen.

Where does his daughter go to school. Maybe that could play in?

That's what I hear too...I'd be extremely surprised to see him on the sidelines in 2008. And I don't think he'd want to work for Snyder.

I hear ya but the Skins HC position comes with some perks he wasn't getting in Pittsburgh and probably won't get from many other teams.

    a.
    A huge paycheck.
    b.
A owner that loves to spend the bucks.
    c.
One of the most storied franchises.
    d. He would have control of GM like duties (unless that is what Gibbs new title entails).

Look, I am with Z on this one that he probably won't, however, if the right check is stroked in the right situation, then just about anybody can be bought.
