He is a young cop that was operating on adrenaline.
I can understand why he was so excitable in the beginning, but after the nurses came out and told him the mother was dying, he should have apologized and let him go.
Instead he was a stubborn prick who couldn't admit he was making a mistake.
Rock out with your cock out!!!

So if I was on my way visit a dying relative and I was suspected to be in violation of a law, I should be allowed to continue on my way?

    no.

    13 minutes.
That is how long it took for this officer to let Moats enter the hospital.
In those 13 minutes his mother in law died.
Despite being told by a nurse, hospital security officers, and another police officer that he was telling the truth, this officer chose to take his time and try and teach Moats a civil lesson.

    Disgusting.

Most people here know that I was a police officer for several years.
And most know that I tend to side with law enforcement in issues of civil complaints against officers.
    But this honestly disgusts me.
He rolled a red light for christ's sake.
It was night, and there was nobody else around save for one vehicle who allowed Moats to proceed.
Is that offense really worth preventing a man from visiting a family member one last time?

His wife and grandmother got to go inside.
His father in law did not.
His father in law was not able to be at the bedside of his wife when she passed away.
All because a rookie cop (he is only 25) chose to take his time and spend 13 minutes writing a ticket that most cops can write in 2.

He was pulling up to the hospital EMERGENCY ROOM for fuck's sake.
    Disgusting.
I hope that cop loses his badge.

    no.
    His superiors obviously feel differently.
