i agree, ask madden is terrible, sometimes it would tell me to do a punt return on second and 3rd down.

but a good test to see if your game is good or not is to always use ask madden and see if you can still get the 1st/hold them to a punt

Why would the NFL owners pay coaching staffs 6 to 8 million dollars a year if they have to rely on a computer to tell them what plays to run?
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

I'm willing to be that the computer program is better than Ask Madden. It isn't something that should be used in games, but I can see how it would help for developing strategy and new schemes.

It's just another tool that you could use as a coach. Statistics can only help so much, no matter how 'good' they are. If they don't have the different offenses/defenses blocked by eras and types and all the other variations it won't help much anyway.

Just like any resource, it is only helpful if the person using it can think. We have more information available to us now than we have since the beginning of time. Are there still idiots? Yes. Is it because there isn't information available to them? No. Idiots typically remain idiots and people that can think critically have a higher probability of success.

If coaches have another tool to use for making decisions, then more power to them. The bad coaches will remain bad no matter what technologies they use. The good coaches may be able to utilize this resource to enhance their coaching skills.
