After failing to reach a long-term agreement with Dallas Clark, the Indianapolis Colts placed the franchise tag on their tight end on Tuesday....

    Suprise suprise.

Yet another team trying to hang on for one more year.
Everytime I see a team do this along with letting thier stars go I start loving our staffs approach more and more.

Does anyone else find it a coincidence that TD is only sticking around for one more year.

What approach are you talking about, the lack of playoffs, superbowls, or both?

Don't get me wrong, I think that the Clark move is a good one, and I loved the way they built this team and have maintained it (i.e. letting Edge go) but found it very interesting how they started acting leading up to last year.

My comment is directed more at a bigger picture kindo of thought process when I look at this team.

    They currently 48
players under contract and are about 8.5 Mill under that cap. Now they are starting to franchise players and release vets with nothing in return.
Two clear indicators that the team is trying to hang onto what they have at least one more year (Ala the Pats) and then will have to gut everything and start over.

    Take Harrison for instance.
I would have traded his ass last year.
Might have been alot of negative fan feedback however, I still would have done it.
12 years in the league is alot of years at WR.
He was still pretty productive in 2006 so some yutz of a GM would have given up a few picks, that teams fans would have been instantly happy etc etc etc.

Most won't agree with me on that statement, however, from what I can tell, in this day and age of FA the good teams will start making calls like this to ensure that they get value out of thier aging stars before they aren't any good anymore.

If you are referring to my last post thanks.
I try to make sense most of the time.
Sometimes I kindof just wind up re-reading stuff and saying to myself....

Self, you really rambled along in that one you yutz.
