I would hope that the nfl would give him some kind of disability benefits or something if he is unable to play again..... does anyone know if they have that sort of thing?

    Thanks Lotza!

You would think he would get something.

Even though he was a Packer I feel bad for him nontheless.

I am almost positive these guys actually get insurance policies on these type of things. I remember that being talked about when Willis Mcgahee destroyed his knee in college. I'll bet he'll get some money from that.

He was one of the few Packers I like..

Wish him the best of luck in what he has to do

My Packer friend doesn't even care.. It's sad

I hate to see any player get injured like he did regardless of what team he plays for. Yes he was a packer, and yes I hate the packers, but he is still a human being and needs to provide for his family.. Hope better days are ahead for Murphy.

Re: The cold reality of the NFL........Packers release

He will probably get picked up by someone who needs a player cheap if he is indeed able to be cleared to play...otherwise, he might end up being thankful that the Packers cut him before he caused any more damage...you don't mess with your spinal cord...you get paralyzed and there is very little you can do right now that will fix it. Better to retire and get a regular job and live a normal life then to put yourself at further risk like that. Sometimes it's time to hang them up for the better of the rest of your life.

Good luck to him...and remember, he's not a Packer anymore, so it's OK to root for him now!

Ouch...you always hate to see that happen to anyone. It's always a shame to see a guy lose his livelihood because of an injury. Hopefully he got a good degree and will be able to go on to bigger and better things if he does retire.

Amen. This kind of thing should be shown to EVERY athlete who is lucky enough to get a scholarship to go to college. Get the free degree and don't just count on a professional athletic career, because that dream can be taken away in the blink of an eye.

    =Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
