The Chiefs want to trade QB Tyler Thigpen

The Kansas City Chiefs have been talking to other teams about trading young quarterback Tyler Thigpen according to league sources. The mobile quarterback was drafted by the Vikings in 2007, but the Chiefs claimed him on waivers.

In 2008, Thigpen played many games in 2008 and was very impressive when the team shifted to a spread offense.

Many people believed that Thigpen would have been the starter this year, and perhaps the franchise quarterback the Chiefs have been looking for. Tight end Tony Gonzalez voiced his support for Thigpen to retain the position for the 2009 season. "It would be a disgrace if they don't (keep Thigpen as the starting quarterback)," Gonzalez told ESPN. "We've been playing well since he came in..."

Unfortunately for Thigpen, the Chiefs signed Matt Cassel to become the franchise quarterback, and suddenly Thigpen was excessive to the team.

I liked what I saw from him in 2008 and I think we should look into getting him back on the team. He played significant better than Tarvaris Jackson did in any season.
The "problem" is; suddenly the Vikings are highly stacked at the quarterback position.

We have the previously MVP, and several Pro Bowls-veteran in Brett Favre.
The smart veteran game-manager backup who can step in right away in Sage Rosenfels.
The thrid stringer with all the right tools to become a starter in Tarvaris Jackson.
And finally, the young 4th stringer, 2nd year QB with promising progressions in David Booty.

Where does Thigpen fit in? I personally like him more than half of the quarterbacks i just mentioned.

I'm just sayin' ...

I'd almost rather have him than Tarvaris or Booty! He was impressive last year, and fits Chilli's system really well. I wish he would have never slipped through our fingers a few years ago!

Hey I say we get him, and also keep Favre, Sage, TJack, and Booty.
5 QB's on the roster sounds good to me.

trade TJack, Albert Young, Bobby Wade, and a late round pick for Thigpen, a draft pick, and Bowe!!! :P

Thigpen would be dangerous after sitting for a year learning from Favre

Tyler is sooo good that the chiefs are going to get rid of him? Makes alot of sense to me. Somethin ain't adding up in my world. :-

Maybe not the right system for him, but there is a lot we fans dont see so you may be on to something.
I always hoped that he would find some success.....as long as it was not against us
