Hmmm, might have been a few, but I think most felt that the guys that were brought in couldn't catch the ball.

For me, what I missed the most was the unpredictability we had with him back there. Were we gonna run or were we gonna pass.
A few? There are two reasons AD was sat on 3rd down & CT brought in. CT could block & CT could catch. Both of which AD struggled with early when CT was here.

When CT was in there on 3rd down, there wasn't much unpredictability what we were going to do. Odds were damn high it was a pass.

If CT was in there on 1st or 2nd, then the unpredictability existed & that's how it should be with any RB. Back then, before AD improved his pass catching abilities, if AD was in, it was quite predictable what we were going to do.
I think you need to go back and revisit some game tape. Ole CT had some very nice runs on 3rd and long my friend.

Unless of course it was 3rd and 17...then you just knew that ol' Chiller was gonna pound the rock up the middle.
    .....snicker.....you crack me up.

He did do that at times, but if you took alook at down/distance and field position, alot of coaches do that as well, especially if the game is earl/close.

Funny how most fans on this site ignore that little tactic.
Funny how most of the coaches who do that wind up unemployed after the season....

Maybe it just is me, but I was disappointed Chester left last year but now I really don't see any reason to bring him back. I feel that Booker and Gerhart are can become effective weapons for us, they just need to mature in the offense a little bit.
    None

+1, glad we cut ties on him when we did. 2.4ypc last year.
There are a few on here who don't agree with that though.
    I'm not among them.

Always liked Chet, but, Bears overpaid to get him... Good luck to Chester, all the best.
    Agree.

I think some of the initial problem was related to people looking at Toby as a replacement for 3rd down situations when in fact, thats not his role.

I for one, think we have one of the best 3rd down backs on our roster right now and the right QB that knows how to use him as such, in young Mr. Booker and Mr. Dnabb.
Does that mean you are no longer high on Albert, Albert, Albert?
You have to stay current with the times. I move on when the roster changes.

At that point I thought he was gonna work out, mostly cause of who he was competing for the job against. Lets not forget, most wanted the dude who proposed to the cheerleader, instead of Albert.

In the end, we were both wrong. They were just more wrong than I. :P

    Good stuff, again, my friend.

    One comment/question though, .......

    Comment
I don't see Toby as as 3rd down back. I see him more of a "Replacement" for AD when AD needs to get reps off.

    Question
Is that how you see him as well?
