Nope its not a catch. Should they change the rules or something to make such a situation a catch? No. Calvin Johnson should be a man and do the right thing with two hands on the football and land on the ground with his shoulder pads rather than trying to get up right away.

He did land on the ground with his two hands. And no one has responded to the fact that his hand was out of bounds before the ball touched the ground.
I am NOT here to provide good football insight or rational observations. I am an emotional 19 year old Viking fan and I expect you to adjust your expectations from my posts.

Two hands on the football never happened. Blame CJ for all the Bears smack TNT has to put up with this week.

    That doesn't matter

Say a WR is bringing in a ball (has it pulled up to his chest with 2 hands) and is getting pushed out of bounds

It wouldn't matter if his whole body hits out of bounds if he doesn't hold the ball

It's the same concept.. Yes it's not the same exact thing.. But that's the rule.. He had the ball.. Came down and didn't hold the ball on the way down/up..

I just saw a segment.. EVERYONE knows it's the right call do to rules.. But is the wrong one due to the fact he did hold it and let it go to celebrate? Yes.. They could look into that

Otherwise it really hasn't been an issue

It does matter if he had possession when his hand went out of bounds because that would mean the play is over. He had possession, was on his ass, that's when the play should be called dead; When he had possession in the endzone.

If it was in the middle of the field, would it have been a catch fumble or incomplete?

Catch then down by contact. Ground can't cause a fumble.

Actually the whole point of the ruling was that it would not have been a catch anywhere on the field and that the endzone is no different.

It would have been incomplete because he did not control the ball all the way through the ground. The only way they could call it a catch is if they said he lost the ball making a second football move ... which he did not appear to be doing so.

Thankfully, I am no longer in Chicago to deal with the Bears shit.
