Newton himself has been fairly successful as a QB. The Carolina Panthers have not been successful as a team. See the difference?

My Meeple is purple. What color is yours?

Something else to "Ponder" is the whole decision process that went with first trying to get Orton and even Thygpen ahead of Dnabb.
All I'm saying is it isn't out of the question for a new coach to come in and start with a new QB, mostly because of the "Honeymoon" effect that comes with the first year and it sure sounded early on that is what Leslie thought was gonna happen.
Don't forget either that if a trade could have been worked out Gabbert would have been our choice ahead of Ponder. I don't think they even considered that a possibility so far back or they may have had an enticing package ready instead of scrambling at the last minute to try to get it done.

As to Leslie, how much of a honeymoon do you think he is going to get with the current ownership? Leslie's desire to pick up a veteran, any veteran, ssays he may not feel he has much of a leash either. IMO it has always felt like he was hired as a fill-in, not like a coach they felt they had to have.
Why must you defend everything this FO does....to the point of making your self look like a yes man.

He was never given a fair chance to succeed here. I say bring him back!

(something is weird with the "reply with multiple quotations" feature on the site...)

People outside the dome were already starting up the chant, "Hire Childress, Hire Childress".

I hate that damn avatar of yours. Makes me want to punch him right in the face...which I suspect is part of your intent.

Newton is an amazing athlete with gifts you can't coach. With that alone he'll make big plays.
