the bye
hey anybody know what exactly they have the bye week for? i have heard all sorts of replies to that and im not sure what to believe. i typically hate the bye week cuz i have to wait 2 weeks instead of 1 week for the vikes to play. this year it should be better because i am going to broncos country to hunt elk. i was so happy when i found out that i didnt have to miss a game ;D

If I were to guess...it's because the league hasn't always had an even number of teams, so someone had to sit out a "bye".

wow, good question. nothing on wikipedia. well, it helps teams rest up a bit. it gives 1 team an edge over the other concidering theyve had just about 2 weeks to do film, prep., etc. prolly to give the dolphins and packers a chance at beating someone (besides the lions, thats a given).

It's the overwieght 300+ DT can catch their breath a week and not have a heart attack.

This allows them to gain extra revenue from the TV contracts, which is nothing to sneeze at money-wise.
