Bush Signs 6-year Deal With Saints

Sorry I don't have more information but I was watching ESPN News and saw the headline come across. It's a "Breaking" story on ESPN.com so I can only link their main NFL page.

Feel free to add more relevant information as it becomes available.

    BREAKING NEWS
Bush agrees to terms with Saints
Second overall pick Reggie Bush has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints on a six-year deal, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli is reporting. Details of the contract are not known. Bush is expected to sign Sunday.
He's still going to get a buttload of money, for being #2.

good job on getting that fast!! its good to see them getting him signed!! if they didn't, New Orleans would be even more depressed than they already are, they need something good to happen to them!!!!!!

I'm glad he signed and didn't hold out. I always lose respect for guys who are that stuck up to hold out.

Another link that has some initial monetary figures:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/peter_king/07/29/saints.bush.contract/index.html

Summary = Roughly $51MM over 6 years with $26.2MM in gauranteed money.

So, Bush's agent (who also represents TJack I think) got Bush $300,000 less in gaurantees and $3MM less for the contract overall by refusing the Texan's deal. Good job agent, good job...

Caveat - This is only applicable is Peter King's numbers are correct.

So Segal did exactly what was expected of him.. He waited until the #1 and #3 picks were signed then slotted Reggie in the middle of them.

Yeah im waiting on the concrete financial details, wanna see how close he is to M.Williams. But if them early figures are correct then he got pretty close to Williams anyway.

Reggie Bush could join his first pro team as early as Sunday.

Team sources told FOXSports.com that Bush and the New Orleans Saints agreed in principle on a 6-year deal that is sandwiched between Vince Young's contract at No. 3 and Mario Williams' at No. 1.

"This deal should be done as early as tomorrow," the source said.

When asked if there was anything that could hold up the deal, one team source said, "There shouldn't be anything. But you never know. All that's really left is for some language to be cleaned up in the deal."

The Titans' Young received $25.74 million in guarantees, while the No. 1 pick Williams of the Houston Texans was awarded $26.5 million in bonuses.

Bush was the second player chosen in the NFL draft and has missed the first two days of training camp practices.

The wide receiver out of Southern California won the Heisman Trophy after a sensational season in which the Trojans repeated as Pac-10 champions and advanced to the national title game.

To say the Saints are excited is an understatement. The night before the draft coach Sean Payton said he was working on a new offensive playbook to include Bush in a backfield with Deuce McAllister.
