Burleson sucks life out of Warrick.

    KFFL
Seahawks | Warrick misses being “The Man”
    Mon, 8 May 2006 19:32:42 -0700

The Associated Press reports Seattle Seahawks WR Peter Warrick thought he had a chance jump-start his lifeless career this offseason with the Seahawks, until the team signed WR Nate Burleson. Warrick said, "I don't have to be 'The Man'. It's just about when I get the opportunity." When asked how much he misses being "The Man," Warrick said, "I miss it a lot. At Florida State, Bobby Bowden, he really respected me. He gave me opportunities. We'd script 10 plays for a game at Florida State. Seven of them, I got the ball." Wide receivers coach Nolan Cromwell said he likes that Warrick has enough grasp of the playbook to play any three positions and considers him part of a three-string rotation for playing time at wide receiver. However, head coach Mike Holmgren added, "It's early. We have a pretty good group of wide receivers. We'll see how it sorts itself out." Warrick will likely be the team's punt returner, as Holmgren has declared the job as Warrick's to lose.

Ah, it's Warrick's own fault. He let himself become a "versatile" player.. I've been having this conversation a LOT recently regarding (true) football, and have summarised everything into one well-known phrase:

Jack of all trades; Master of none

The fact that Warrick knows the playbook so well that he can play any of the three Wide Receiver positions means he's never going to truly settle in one position and be able to consistently make plays, as he's going to be constantly moved around thanks to his "versatility".

If he thinks he should be the man then go prove on the field and you will be the MAN! Until then Warrick quit whining like a 3 year old!

The thing that upset me about his comments is that it seems as if he thinks its everyone elses fault he hasnt succeeded in the NFL. He needs to step up and take some responsibility.

But his versatility is the only reason he is still in the NFL

That is a good post Benet!

He is a skilled player, just hasn't had the opportunity to excell at the one position. Injuries, trades, you name it. He probably isn't an elite WR, but he definitely has the skills to play for years to come.
