Bucs' RB charged with hitting pregnant woman

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Buccaneers running back Lionel Gates was arrested and charged with hitting a pregnant woman in the face and pushing her into a wall during an argument.

The 25-year-old player was being held Friday with no bond, jail records said.
Gates kicked in the front door of Peggie Lavender's apartment Thursday night, destroyed two televisions and two doors, put a hole in the bedroom wall and assaulted her, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report said. He was arrested later at his apartment in the same complex.

Gates was charged with burglary of a dwelling, aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and criminal mischief. A call to his lawyer, Ken Sarnoff, was not immediately returned. The team had no immediate comment.

Gates was signed by Tampa Bay in September after being released by Buffalo. He played in college at Louisville and was drafted by the Bills in 2005.

Not that would excuse anything...but it might explain why he did what he did.

There is no explanation for hitting a woman, pregnant or not.

Hell, IMHO, there's no explanation for hitting ANYONE.
Violence is not the answer.

Thats those Bucs for ya! Thier other RB Pittman ramed his hummer
into his wife's car a couple years back.(Who was pregnant with their kid)

They got a whole gaggle of a woman beaters down here in Tampa.

JR junior JR Rider kicked a woman that was about 8 months pregnant in the back at the Mall of America when he was with the T-Wolves.

He was supposed to be at a personal appearance (card signing), when he didn't show the aforementioned woman (manager of the store) called to see where he was, he got so upset that he drove to the MOA to fight with her and when she turned to walk away from him he kicked her in the back.

It was his birthday and didn't want to do the card signing, even tho he was already paid for it.
So you shouldn't have agreed to it than you punk moron.

thats one thing I cant stand seeing a woman get hit I grew up around it. IT is truly disgracful. pregnant or not you juts dont do that to a woman.

Ahhh, just the other day I saw some dude get mad because he found out this girl was doin "it" with somebody else when she never agreed to be his gf. The guy got pissed and threw a punch at her. I was about to pull him off, but this girl (who's 6'2 200 something) ended up beating the hell outta him. Rachel if ur reading this-whoo whoop dat b*tch got beat!
