Re: Browns WR Stallworth hits, kills Fla. pedestrian

Stallworth says in post-crash 911 call that man 'came out of nowhere'
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d81112ae7&template=without-video&confirm=true

On the 911 call, which was released Monday, Stallworth describes how the victim "just ran in front of my car" before he was struck. Police have said Reyes wasn't in a crosswalk and was rushing to catch a bus when he was hit.

"You got to send an ambulance right now, man," Stallworth told the 911 operator.

Stallworth suspended without pay for 2009 season

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Donte' Stallworth of the Cleveland Browns today that he is suspended without pay for the 2009 season for violating both the NFL's policy on substances of abuse and the personal conduct policy.

On June 16, Stallworth pled guilty to DUI/Manslaughter, a second degree felony in Florida, resulting from a March 14 incident in which he struck and killed a pedestrian while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Stallworth will be reinstated after the Super Bowl in February 2010. He may not participate in any team activity during the 2009 season.

Re: Browns WR Stallworth hits, kills Fla. pedestrian

For a guy that's a complete hard-a$$ with stuff that happens on the field, I think he's being pretty wimpy on SERIOUS of the field issues.

Eric Smith delivers a hard but LEGAL hit during game play to Boldin, 1 game suspension,

Hayneworth stomps on a Andre Gurode after the play, 5 games suspension, Gurode plays the next week.

Note, neither of these guys were arrested or indicted.

Kill a guy while drunk, 16 games.

I guess 30 stitches, no lost earnings, in a rough game, and no arrest to a NFL player...
is only a LITTLE WORSE than
KILLING, life-time lost earnings (although Stallworth paid them off), arrested and found guilty to a non-NFL player.

IMO, something is REALLY messed up here.

Can't help but agree with you on this one.. the punishment doesn't fit the crime, imho.
